Our story at EcoIntimacy

Discover the journey that led to EcoIntimacy, where intimacy is celebrated as a vital part of health and well-being. We are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for healing and growth.

Our inspiration and vision

EcoIntimacy was born from a deep personal journey and extensive professional experience. With decades of working as an RN in women's health, including labour and delivery, postpartum, high risk perinatal, family planning and lactation consulting. Janet has worked primarily with folks living with trauma and facing many system challenges. She has  been a long time advocate for system change including working as a community engagement  specialist to bring the Canada Disability into law.

Janet  taught nursing at a BScN level at Mount Royal University including Community and Mental Health.

Her  insights are deeply rooted in understanding women's bodies and lived experiences. Including the impact of intersecting identities. Her Master level thesis work focused on how women learn through their bodies.

-Janet's path of healing from chronic complex trauma, undiagnosed neuro divergency, and sexual assault, happened slowly but deeply, through yoga, art, deep dives into therapy and, staying connected to nature. Janet believes that being raised where she was, softened the experiences of an otherwise abusive childhood.

Janet was a single parent to children on the autism spectrum, and she herself is living with two invisible disabilities. She is very proud that she has been through treatment and is grateful for life long recovery.

These elements have formed Jan's story and ignited the vision for EcoIntimacy.

EcoIntimacy is about reclaiming body autonomy and agency, Its about dropping the masks we are forced to wear to fit in and survive and moving beyond shame, and embracing those experiences that lead to increased self knowledge, healing, pleasure and overall well-being.

We also offer products that support the human journey to reconnecting with ones sexual health and wellness. we strive to offer only the best products that are made from body safe materials, are esthetically pleasing and are also trauma sensitive.

If we promote it, we trust it!

Our unique approach to healing

At EcoIntimacy, we blend yoga and breathwork to help you tap into the physical awareness of your core, womb space, and pelvic floor. Our approach creates a safe, trauma-informed environment, led by an experienced facilitator who through the pillars of being trauma sensitive,  fosters trust.

Breathwork is key to slowing the nervous system, helping you find and stay within your window of tolerance. Our classes are unique due to lived experience of trauma and healing, combined with three decades of professional experience.

Janet holds a Masters Degree in Adult Education specializing in Transformational Education. Her thesis focused on Nurses experiencing lateral violence in the work place.  This deep dive into the lives of Nurses as women, further informed her practice of  "getting to the root" of why women bully other women and the connection to women's trauma, oppression, power and colonization.

EcoIntimacys location on beautiful Vancouver Island British Columbia, provides a serene and magical backdrop for deep grounding. Our workshops are based on the work of Joanna Macy, Scholar of Systems Theory and Buddhism, and grounded in Deep Ecology, 'The Work That Reconnects', is offered by only a few facilitators across Canada. Janet  Nass is one of those facilitators.

Who we love to help

We are passionate about working with women especially those individuals living with unresolved trauma and chronic health challenges. We honor and respect all bodies, all identities, all relationship structures. We do however, only work with adults.

Each person is treated as an individual, and based on extensive experience we know when to refer someone on for specialized care.

Our offerings are designed to support your healing journey out of a dysregulated nervous system through body reconnection however, our offerings  are not meant to replace medical care or your current Healthcare provider. We view our services as potential enhancements to overall health and wellness.

Much trauma is stored in the hips and pelvic area, and through yoga, breathwork, artistic expression, and intimacy product recommendations,  we will assist you to find  a potential pathway to safely reconnect with your spiritual and  physical body.

"EcoIntimacy provided a profoundly safe space for me to reconnect with my body and begin a true healing journey. The insights, tools and product suggestions shared have been life-changing."
